DC resident Jamal Hykeem Matthis, 33, was arrested and is facing multiple drug charges after an investigation in Largo when he was stopped for speeding, according to Maryland State Police on Tuesday, March 28.
Specifically, Matthis was charged with:
- Drug possession;
- Possession of drug contraband;
- Possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).
At approximately 11:10 a.m. on Monday, March 27, a trooper from the Forrestville Barrack stopped Matthis for speeding in the area of 10500 block of Campus Way in Largo, during which it was determined that he had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest.
While investigating and transporting Matthis to the detention center, troopers discovered 135 grams of methamphetamine on him, leading to additional charges, officials say.
Matthis was transported to the Prince George’s County Detention Center, where he was later released. No return court date has been announced.
